If it’s any indication of the year ahead, the first week of the year has been quite interesting.

Last Wednesday, my son had experienced a lockdown at their school. Apparently, a junior student brought 2 guns, one was loaded and was left at the locker. An assistant principal saw the student a little bit ‘disturbed’. A canine check with a private security have confirmed an existence of gun.

I was able to check out and read some of the kid’s discussion on a web article that was posted about the incident. Of course, everyone has there say on the incident but bottom line, gun does not belong in school.

It’s now at the hand of the police but what about the kid. Obviously, with the economic situation most people are in right now, there’s a lot of quality time between families that are compromised as well.

I’ve always have this discussion with my son. There’s a lot of psychological noises going around our children’s lives nowadays that most parents are almost helpless on how to deal with it. I don’t blame it on the game consoles but if you have a chance to check on the video games, count the numbers of those that have violence as the central theme.

Reality vs. Virtual Reality.

I think the constant playing these war games trains the minds that it is almost not able to distinguish real and virtual. Computers and technology have gone a long way from their Jurassic predecessors and the rate of tech changes demanding a shift every 2 – 2.5 years.

I’m no expert and it is just my opinion. But I believe parents have a good deal of responsibility in all of these. I know it’s not easy and I know. I have a teenage son too.

The family is the core of our society and it is always under attack. Let’s put back God in the center of our family lives.

Today is election day here in the US. I’ve been reading the papers and it seems that this is a worldwide affair. A couple of countries are checking out who’s going to be our next president.

Whoever win this election, the next president is going to have his hands full in leading this country. A 47 year old newbie vs. a 72 year old war veteran. If Obama wins, I can assure you that he’ll encounter the same change that Clinton had. In less than a year, I predict he’ll have gray hair. If McCain wins, we better get ready training Sarah Palin right away as the next president. For what I’ve read, people have been misjudging this lady. If she don’t make it this time, I won’t be surprised if she run for President in the near future. Let’s hope it’s like Hilary Clinton vs Sarah Palin.

I’m just trying to lighten up the mood. I wonder what’s the odds are in Las Vegas.

As I write this, the news has shown that Obama has taken Penssylvania. It’s going to be a long night. As much as this election has been hyped up by the media, it got me thinking, does it really matter who wins? Does the new president have the tenacity to beat the ‘system’. I think history have shown that most presidential candidates, as they become the president, are changed by the ‘system’. All those promises are push to the drain. Let’s see how soon will Obama ‘change’.

I think whoever wins, tomorrow our lives will still be the same. For those people that are facing foreclosure on their homes, the next president can’t change their disposition. For the banks that melted down last month, will the new president open up the doors and revive their lost in the equities market. What about those people that are going to lose their jobs next month after Christmas? Are they now assured that they’re going to have their job back?

You and I know the answer. So what’s with the hype and this entertainment. Four years is not enough to truly gain back what we have lost in 3 months. We’re used to microwave mentality. A lot of people are hoping that change is going to happen as the new President preside. We need to remember that we control what we can control. As much as the equities, the financial markets, the commodities market, and the housing markets have been hammered and reached bottom, the consumers are also involved with this mess.

We need to take responsibility for all our actions. Americans have shown in the past the resiliency. It is a country that is based on Godly beliefs. It’s about time we go back to our fundamentals. A nation that trust God.

November 1st is All Saints Day and November 2nd is All Souls Day.

We’re now on our post Halloween here in the USA, and shops are loaded with special sales on Halloween themed candies. I wish we could save it for next year’s Halloween.

Growing up in Manila, I recall with fond memories my childhood times going to the cemetery on All Saints Day. In the Philippines, people visits the memorial sites of their loved ones. Being half Chinese, I go to La Loma Cemetery – the Chinese Cemetery. I remember going to my Papa’s friend’s site where we go year after year and prepping up the sites before November 1st, cleaning it up and making sure everything is in order. My father’s friend is his business partner. I recall riding at the back of the pickup truck going to the cemetery on All Saints Day. For the life of me, I could not figure how they can remember how to go the tomb’s place amongst all the others. I don’t see any street signs yet it seems that they just know where it is.

Chinese, being superstitious, have several things they do to remember their loved ones who pass away. I remember those tombs where it’s almost like a house, fixed up with bathroom, air conditioning system, etc. I don’t really know how it is now, but the Chinese Cemetery in Manila has become a tourist spot at some point because of how lavish some of the sites are.

So what’s the point? I would just like to express that even though we spend millions on the places where the dead lies, one truth remains, they won’t be able to reciprocate the expression we give. Now, while we are living, is the time to express our love for the people we care most and love. Don’t wait for the last moment when they could not hear us, can’t feel our care for them, or just could not return the love we shower them with.

The only person who I believe who has the ability to do just that even after his death, is Jesus Christ. He, being God, became human just to express His love to us, and even as he left us with His death on the cross, is able to give back His love to us as we give Him our love.

A meditating thought for me. As we approach the holiday season, specially in this trying times, let’s not forget to perform a simple act of love to those we care. Let’s not wait for the moment when they can’t hear what you have to say.

Have you express your love to your loved ones lately? Have you said ‘I love you’ to God?

Finally, my own blog site!

After deliberating for a long time, I decided to host my own blog. Not that I don’t know how. I’ve been whipping up WordPress sites for some time now but I decided that I need to express my own voice that people would recognize.

I have a network that I have planned that will make up what the future information group that I am building. For the most part, it will be focused on internet marketing, ministry, and MLM. Yup, MLM.

I was listening to Mike Dillard’s interview of Robert Kiyosaki and it dawned on me that I have enough material and information to share to the world about what I’ve learned this past years about the industry. As most MLM’ers know, Mr. Kiyosaki is a proponent of MLM industry as a business building environment especially for newcomers in the business.

While not all the discussion will be on this site, I will lead you to my focused themed sites so that we could categorize the subjects to specifics and discuss it.

So, what will happen to GeorgeFiles.com? It will now become my resource site. More like what the name imply, files. I’ll be working up the site with tools and sources that I’ve used and share with all of you. I am trying to be more active with my new site, IMS101.com. It was a deleted domain that I picked up and I would like to use it as my teaching platform for internet marketing.

I also would like to revive my pet site, Our Prayer Life. It’s been left out because of my lack of attention and I promised myself that I would spare some more time to this site.

I don’t want to create my own site before because I feel that I don’t have much to share. But the Good Lord has been impressing in my heart that ‘..whatever you give, it will be given back to you’. So I’m taking that to heart. I am devoting only on three main points; Faith, Health, and Wisdom. I think life is so short that we lose track of the most valuable things in life that God has given us.

Whatever we do in life, if we don’t have our Faith in God, nothing matters. God gave us a body as His temple, and if we don’t take care of our Health, we won’t be able to serve Him. As much as focus of a lot of people is on creating wealth, I’d rather seek Wisdom. King Solomon could have asked God for wealth, but he asked God for wisdom, and in return, God blessed him bountifully. (I’m not asking for a lot of wives, one is already a challenge).

So there you have it. Come visit again.
